Portmarnock Sports Hub – Key Developments
Fingal County Council is moving ahead with taking ownership (“taking in charge”) of a site near the Jameson Orchard estate in Portmarnock.
The land will be used to develop a sports hub shared by four local clubs:
Portmarnock Athletic Club
Portmarnock AFC (soccer)
Portmarnock Triathlon Club
Naomh Mearnóg GAA Club
🧾 Status Update
All legal issues around the land transfer have been resolved.
The developer requested minor plan revisions, which the council accepted.
The final step is for the developer to sign off on those updated plans so the land can officially transfer to the council.
🏃 Community Benefits
The project promotes a collaborative model where multiple clubs share facilities rather than compete for separate sites.
It supports the council’s “hub approach” for sustainable community sports development.
A question arose about a second possible hub near Drumnigh Road / Belmayne, but the council confirmed there are no active plans for that site.
