Portmarnock Sports Hub – Key Developments

  • Fingal County Council is moving ahead with taking ownership (“taking in charge”) of a site near the Jameson Orchard estate in Portmarnock.

  • The land will be used to develop a sports hub shared by four local clubs:

    • Portmarnock Athletic Club

    • Portmarnock AFC (soccer)

    • Portmarnock Triathlon Club

    • Naomh Mearnóg GAA Club

🧾 Status Update

  • All legal issues around the land transfer have been resolved.

  • The developer requested minor plan revisions, which the council accepted.

  • The final step is for the developer to sign off on those updated plans so the land can officially transfer to the council.

🏃 Community Benefits

  • The project promotes a collaborative model where multiple clubs share facilities rather than compete for separate sites.

  • It supports the council’s “hub approach” for sustainable community sports development.

  • A question arose about a second possible hub near Drumnigh Road / Belmayne, but the council confirmed there are no active plans for that site.
