Aldi opens its first store in Donabate

  • Aldi Ireland has announced that it will open its first store in Donabate later this month, marking the retailer’s 166th store in the country.

  • The new €15 million Dublin store will be Aldi’s 27th in the county and create 30 permanent jobs for the area when it opens on Thursday 27 November.

  • To celebrate the Turvey Avenue store opening, customers will be able to enjoy a festive atmosphere on opening day, with treats and live entertainment, as well as some special VIP guests.

  • Last year, Aldi celebrated 25 years in Ireland, having grown from an initial two stores in 1999 to 165 locations nationwide.

  • Recently, Aldi welcomed its billionth Irish customer on the opening day of its Monaghan Town store, and to celebrate, lucky shopper Colleen McCrudden received a year’s worth of free shopping.

  • The retailer now employs over 4,800 people nationwide.

🏗️ Glenveagh Homes - Mooretown - Application lodged - Significant Amendments

  • A series of amendments are proposed to the previously approved Mooretown Phase 2A and Phase 3 SHD schemes.

  • Phase 2A changes include removing 3 permitted houses, realigning part of Cronan’s Well Road, and adjusting parking and landscaping.

  • Phase 3 changes include removing 196 permitted homes (8 houses and 188 apartments) and revising internal roads, parking, crèche drop-off, open space and landscaping.

  • A new mixed-use development is also proposed: 381 homes (156 houses and 225 apartments), two commercial units and a childcare facility, in buildings ranging from one to five storeys (total GFA 34,055 sq m).

  • The application also includes revised internal roads, cycle and footpath links; alterations to Main Street junctions and parking; 500 car spaces; 23 motorcycle spaces; cycle parking; public and private open space; lighting; bin stores; plant; PV panels; green roofs; four substations; and all associated site works.

🏗️ Kavco CL Project Limited – Malahide Road - Application Lodged - Significant Amendments

  • Kavco CL Project Limited is seeking permission to demolish the existing house at Le Rondini, Carr’s Lane, Dublin 17, and build a 55-unit residential scheme. It includes:

    • 43 two-storey houses (35 three-bed and 8 four-bed) with rear bin and bike stores

    • 12 duplex units in a three-storey block (six 2-bed units at ground level and six 3-bed units above), each with private balconies or terraces.

    • The plan also provides an ESB substation, 52 surface car spaces, bicycle parking, a reduced-height front stone wall, modified vehicular access, new footpaths including a link to Saint Doulagh’s Oaks, landscaping with play equipment, boundary treatments, public lighting and all associated site works.
